who counts as a whale?
the biggest accounts on hyperliquid’s public leaderboard that traded this month, plus the month’s best and worst traders and the heaviest volume, about 170 accounts. the ones holding at least $100k in open perp positions are shown.
how fresh is it?
one shared snapshot, refreshed at most once a minute from hyperliquid’s public api. the page reloads it every minute while it’s open.
how are “whale moves” found?
each new snapshot is compared with the previous one: a new position of $250k or more is “opened”, a change of at least $250k (or 20%) is “added” or “cut”, a side change is “flipped”. moves between two snapshots that cancel out aren’t seen.
should i copy whale trades?
not blindly. whales hedge across venues, get liquidated too, and a position here can be one leg of a bigger trade elsewhere. use it to see positioning, not as advice.
