what is a token approval?
permission you gave a contract to move a token for you: a dex needs one to swap, a marketplace to sell your nfts. it stays on after you leave the app, until you set it back to 0.
why are unlimited approvals risky?
if that contract is hacked, upgraded badly, or was a scam all along, it can take every token of that kind you hold, now or later. a plain wallet (not a contract) as the spender is the classic drainer pattern.
does revoking cost gas?
yes, a little: it is a normal transaction you sign in your own wallet. hxxe never holds keys or funds, and revoking stops future transfers only. it can’t undo a theft that already happened.
what about permit2?
uniswap permit2 keeps its own per-app allowances on top of the token → permit2 approval. revoking the token → permit2 approval cuts all of them at once.
